So, the only question I haven't answered is the one why he forgot about the gap, right?
That's why I thought the platform was important.

Hmm, it wasn't that he lost his balance, right?

Normally, when he would step back to "admire" himself in the window-mirror, he would not fall, right?

But today something was different?

Normally no one falls down, when he steps back.
We're used to walk on save ground.

That day was nothing different, he also hasn't lost his balance.

He looked into his freshly cleaned window - and it was so sparkling clean that for a moment he thought he was at home, on even ground, looking at his mirror?

No.
But very near to it.
Still I think, that we have solved this whole thing one or two pages before:
The window looked great, he had a look in it.
Stepped back, not keeping in mind that he was high above the ground.

That's all perfectly OK.

We also have mentioned the reason, why he stepped back.

Humpf. So he just stepped back, because he forgot where he was?

I checked, I asked about the reason why he stepped back, was he surprised, scared, did he need to step back to get a better look - but I hadn't hit on the reason.

Am I supposed to guess the reason? Is the reason the only thing I haven't gotten yet? Everything else is solved?

I still don't get it why he would have stepped back, unless it was just a moment where he forgot where he was.
Or do I have to guess WHY he could forget where he was?

Now I'm totally muddled. :)

I keep walking and look into the next window where the light is better. :)

So - you are telling me, he stepped back to get a better look. I understand that!

But WHY did he forget that he wasn't on the ground??
And WHY today? This could have happened any day of his career in the last 10 years, why today?

Wasn't there anything else special going on?

He forgot it just to give us a good time with this riddle.

He was the window cleaner, who did not keep in mind, that he were high above the ground.
